Before my pitch, I wanted to make sure I had a headstart and could show I was making good progress. As mentioned in my previous blog, social media was vital in finding people to interview.
Just typing 'surrogacy' into Instgram, I came across Annabel's Instagram page where she is documenting her first surrogacy. I messaged Annabel to set up a time to be able to talk to her and get to know more about why she is doing it and her journey so far.
Annabel, who is busy nowadays looking after her two girls, was incredibly open about her experience so far. She knew she wanted to do surrogacy from a young age and after the birth of her second girl, her family was "complete."
"I didn't mind being pregnant, I didn't mind giving birth and knowing at the back of my mind I'd always wanted to do something like this just kind of spurred me on to do it." Annabel explained.
It's very common nowadays for surrogates to document their journey online, especially on Instagram and it is extremely educational for people who have no idea about what surrogacy is and everything that goes into it- specifically for gestational surrogacy which is the route Annabel is taking.
Since the interview with Annabel, the embryo transfer has been complete and she is technically pregnant until proven otherwise.
